What Is Sexy?

What is sexy? As a person who travels internationally, I can tell you that the answer to this is completely different from city to city, village to village, and country to country.

In Myanmar, formerly Burma, it is considered sexy to paint your face with yellowish mud. In Thailand, men wear pink with pride. In England, a woman who sends a man a drink at the bar is NOT sexy, while in New York it is quite flirty. In some countries, a larger woman is considered sexy. In others, the smaller the better. In many European countries, shaving or man-scaping is considered silly. Yet, in major cities everywhere, NOT shaving is too earthy.

So, what is sexy?

Some people I’ve spoken with say sexy is the by-product of self-love. A person who loves their body and is sexually free is sexy – regardless of size, gender, or accoutrements. Others I’ve spoken with say sexy is finding that someone who shares their “kink” and has no shame. Still others, a small but mighty crowd, say sexy is what happens when the heart recognizes its partner in another person.

Sexy is in the mind. It is an ever-changing extension of our fantasies and us. Sexy is also fleeting, because our experience and desire shifts and evolves as we shift and evolve.

So, be wise. Be sexy to yourself. What do you like? Dreadlocks? Shaved? Mud on your face? It’s all good. And, when you have found the sex god or goddess within, go out there and see who gets in line first to explore your sexy self.
